Highlights
RRI's basic aim in conducting research is to improve
patient outcomes. The Institute has established the
RRI Research Board with representatives from our academic
partners and dialysis facilities across the U.S. In
addition to funding research with our university partners,
RRI performs its own research at the Renal Research
Laboratory in Manhattan. Research may be basic, clinical,
or epidemiological. A broad spectrum of issues being
addressed includes:
- Physiological Effects of Dialysis
- On-line solute clearance measurements (OLC)
- Blood volume monitoring (BVM)
- Blood temperature monitoring and control
(BTM)
- Non-invasive continuous blood pressure monitoring
- Clinical Application of New Technology
- Hemodiafiltration development
- Dry Weight / Body Composition Bioimpedance
studies
- New methods in peritoneal dialysis
- Outcome Measurements
- Vascular access flow monitoring
- Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Registry
- Role of psychological factors in peritoneal
dialysis technique and patient survival
- Daily Hemodialysis
- Inflammation
- Chronic inflammation
- Ultrapure water systems
- Oxidative Stress using new method of detection
RRI performs research studies in alpha and beta
pilot sites that are committed to a high level of
scientific and methodological rigor. The results of
these studies are published in peer-reviewed journals
and presented at scientific meetings, ensuring that
the active exchange of ideas among RRI members is
communicated to the entire renal community.
